Nomination forms will soon be available for download. If you know someone we can showcase to the community, we would be delighted to hear from you.
The 2024 theme was “Inspire Inclusion,” aimed at collectively forging a more inclusive world for women. The keynote speaker was Taylin McGill, the 2019 Courage to Come Back Award winner in the Youth Category. At just 10 days old, Taylin contracted salmonella, leading to bacterial meningitis and requiring 14 life-saving brain surgeries before the age of eight.

International Women’s Day (IWD), observed annually on March 8, celebrates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women worldwide. It also serves as a call to action to accelerate gender equality and address issues like discrimination, pay gaps, and violence against women.

Originating in the early 20th century, IWD has roots in labor movements and women’s rights activism, with its first official observances tied to efforts in countries such as the U.S., Germany, and Russia. It became widely recognized after the United Nations began officially celebrating the day in 1975, designated as International Women’s Year.

Each year, IWD adopts a specific theme, encouraging global participation and advocacy. The event is marked by rallies, conferences, cultural performances, and campaigns designed to celebrate progress and push for further equality. The day also highlights the ongoing need for global action to empower women and break down barriers to equality.

The iconic colors of International Women’s Day are purple, green, and white, symbolizing justice, hope, and purity, respectively.
